Gay Comix #10, published in 1987, continued the series' groundbreaking focus on authentic LGBTQ+ storytelling. Edited by Robert Triptow, this issue featured a mix of humor, personal reflection, and social commentary from a range of queer cartoonists.
Highlights include Tim Barela’s “Leonard & Larry,” a warm, realistic look at a middle-aged gay couple’s daily life; M.J. Goldberg’s playful “Swishy Fishy Fashion Cutout,” which satirizes camp culture and gay fashion; and Burton Clarke’s “The Satyr,” a more introspective story addressing issues of race and internalized homophobia within the gay community.
Like the rest of the Gay Comix series, issue 10 played an important role in giving voice to underrepresented queer experiences in comics during the 1980s underground scene.
