Overground’ was a graffiti book series by the Stockholm based publishing house Dokument in the 2000s. Whilst the first two volume focused on Scandinavian writers with No.3 the editors spread the spotlight to European metropolises like Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Paris or Milano.
The hardcover’s concept are portraits on outstanding writers from nine cities. Björn Almqvist, Tobias Barenthin Lindblad, Malcolm Jacobson and Torkel Sjöstrand split up and visited the cities to meet the writers, take photos and write insightful essays on the protagonists. Round about 20 pages for each one were given to introduce

Looking back from today ‘Overground 3’ is an absolute evergreen in the field. The photos mix common graffiti content and action shots with atmospheric photos going beyond and showing the writer lifestyle on 178 pages. The authors’ expertise is a real added value to get to know the chosen writers in entertaining texts. Their foresight in curating the chapters and detecting the writers’ importance in this era makes the book a true gem of the 2000s.
