The Legacy of Milton H. Erickson: Selected Papers of Stephen Gilligan - Stephen Gilligan

First published in 2002 by Zeig, Tucker & Theisen, this collection brings together 16 papers tracing Stephen Gilligan’s development from a student of Milton H. Erickson into a leading practitioner of Ericksonian psychotherapy. Arranged in three sections covering theory, clinical applications and developments beyond Erickson’s original approach, the essays explore hypnotic phenomena, unconscious processes, brief therapy, therapeutic rituals and the relational self. Gilligan examines Erickson’s principles of utilisation and the creative potential of the therapeutic relationship, while showing how these ideas evolved into his own work. A substantial specialist volume for readers interested in hypnosis and the theory and practice of psychotherapy.
