New Zealand Skateboarder Magazine Issue #9 (Dec 2001 – Jan 2002) offered a packed lineup of local and international skateboarding content, reflecting the evolving NZ skate scene of the early 2000s.

The issue included trick tips from Tim Bremner and Shane Mathewson and explored the search for skate-footage glory in “The Quest for Footy” by Luke MaCready. Coverage of the E Cubed Tour 2001 brought together the éS, Emerica, and Etnies teams as documented by Dan and Craig Bycroft, while Degas took readers on a couch-surfing journey to the opening of the Greymouth skatepark in "Coast to Coast."

A feature on Andrew Haeata provided a deeper look at the Muddy Story, with Brett Chan capturing the narrative. The photo gallery “Evidence” showcased New Zealand’s skate photographers at their finest.

The DC team tour was covered under the title “It’s All About the Min & Che,” and the “Under the Hood” section detailed pro skaters’ board setups. Internationally, Dan Buckley and Chey Ataria reported on their experience at the World Championships in Dortmund in “Monster Mastership.”

The issue wrapped up with profiles of Adam Hampson and Sam Coleman in “Rulers,” recognizing their standout contributions to the scene.

On the cover, Mal Stewart nailed a tallslide transfer at The Terrace in Wellington, photographed by Caleb Smith. Inside, Glen Wignal’s switch kickflip over a road barrier was captured by Tim Bremner for the contents page.

This issue reflected the energy of NZ’s skateboarding community and the tight-knit crew pushing the culture forward.
