No More Prisons by William Upski Wimsatt is a collection of essays about activism, community organizing, urban life, youth culture and social change. Wimsatt draws on his experiences as a graffiti writer, hitchhiker and community organizer while examining subjects including homeschooling and self-education, the relationship between cities and suburbs, hip-hop leadership, philanthropy and the American prison system. 

Rather than focusing solely on prisons, the book looks at the wider social structures Wimsatt believes contribute to inequality and explores alternative approaches to education, community building and political activism. Written in an informal, provocative style, it combines personal stories, interviews and practical ideas for grassroots organizing. The book won the 2000 Firecracker Alternative Book Award for Politics.
