Nietzsche for Beginners - Marc Sautet, illustrated by Patrick Boussignac

An illustrated introduction to the life and philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, exploring his major ideas alongside the people and intellectual movements that shaped his thinking. Marc Sautet examines Nietzsche’s relationships with figures including Richard Wagner, Bismarck, Freud and Darwin, as well as earlier philosophers such as Luther, Schopenhauer, Hegel and Kant. The book introduces Nietzsche’s ideas on the Übermensch, nihilism, Zarathustra and the famous declaration that “God is dead”, while also addressing the later misuse of his philosophy by the Nazis. Part of the Writers and Readers Beginners documentary comic book series, it offers an accessible starting point for readers curious about one of philosophy’s most provocative thinkers.
