The Divination Of Souls is a haunting relic from the early underground, originally recorded in 1992 and later reissued on cassette by Darkness Attack Records in 2018. Created by Ixithra of Demoncy under the Profane Grace banner, the release abandons conventional metal structures in favor of ritualistic death ambient and occult soundscapes. Across nearly fifty minutes of music, it conjures an atmosphere of ancient ceremonies, shadowed crypts and supernatural dread, relying on eerie textures, droning passages and unsettling moods rather than riffs or percussion.
The first side unfolds through “The Divination of Souls,” “Cryptic Ambiance” and “Shadowlight,” creating a slow-moving descent into darkness, while the second side's epic suite, “The Death of Enaucturus,” progresses through “Rites of the Dawn,” “Ascension” and “Falling.” The result feels less like an album and more like an audio ritual, designed to immerse the listener in a world of mysticism, death and spiritual transformation. For fans of early dark ambient, ritual music and the occult side of the black metal underground, The Divination Of Souls remains a fascinating and deeply atmospheric document.
