Self and Others - R. D. Laing

In Self and Others, psychiatrist R. D. Laing examines how people experience themselves and understand one another through relationships and communication. Drawing on existential philosophy and clinical psychiatry, Laing explores the ways identity is shaped by social interaction, how people interpret each other’s behaviour, and how conflicting perceptions can contribute to psychological distress. The book develops themes central to Laing’s work, including the instability of personal identity and the difficulties of understanding another person’s inner world.
