Saltas - Currents

SALTAS' Currents is a suffocating and deeply atmospheric release that blends death metal and doom into something both oppressive and hypnotic. Emerging from Gothenburg and Ljungskile, Sweden, the band crafts massive walls of sound that feel less like songs and more like slow-moving spiritual descents. Recorded under deliberately simple conditions and released in 2018, the four-track recording embraces rawness while maintaining a powerful sense of depth and purpose. The eleven-minute opener “Salt At The Temple Roots” immediately establishes the band's vision, unfolding through crushing riffs, cavernous vocals and a haunting atmosphere that lingers long after the track ends.

The remaining songs, “Fractals From The Lower Flesh,” “XII Nerves Decay” and “Currents From The Astral Darkness,” continue the journey into decomposed, demented darkness. Rather than relying on constant aggression, SALTAS build tension through repetition, mood and immense sonic weight, creating music that feels ritualistic and otherworldly.
