A beautiful little time capsule from the era when music videos still felt like pirate television from another dimension. The Work of Director Spike Jonze gathers Spike Jonze’s videos, short films, documentaries, oddball experiments, photo galleries, and commentary tracks into one sprawling DVD archive. You get the glorious chaos of the Beastie Boys, Daft Punk’s “Da Funk,” Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You,” Weezer, Björk, The Pharcyde’s “Drop,” skate culture fragments, and strange mini-films like Amarillo by Morning and How They Get There. It’s half film school, half skate VHS found under a couch in 1999.
