Tits & Clits #2 continues what began with the bold inaugural issue: unapologetically female‑authored comics that explore women’s sexuality from a personal, political, and feminist perspective. Published in the late 1980's under their own imprint, this issue features an anthology of short stories, cartoons, and visual essays addressing themes like pleasure, reproductive choice, lesbian desire, and the double standard of sexual behavior.
Unlike male‑driven adult comix, this issue refuses to frame erotic content for the male gaze. Instead, it centers authentic female experiences—menstruation, masturbation, rape, and consensual lesbian sex—presented with raw honesty, wry humor, and frank discussion. The art is simple but effective: clean black‑and‑white line drawings, expressive lettering, and gestures that underscore both vulnerability and strength.
Contributors beyond Farmer & Chevli occasionally chipped in expressive voices, but the heart of issue #2 remains deeply connected to Farmer’s diaristic style and Chevli’s political edge. The tone swings from lyrical and emotional to satirical, never shying away from taboos of the era.
At the time, the series was so subversive that issues were seized by U.S. Customs as obscene—making this issue a cultural flashpoint in debates over free speech, censorship, and women’s bodily autonomy.
Today, Tits & Clits #2 remains a seminal artifact in feminist comics history. Though rare, it shows up in specialty archives and collector circles, and its political and literary value continues to be studied. It’s not just comix—it’s a statement about control, expression, and female empowerment in a time when those topics were too often silenced.
