Vice V15N12

The Fiction Issue 2008 from VICE is a special issue devoted to short fiction, featuring stories and writing from authors including Blake Bailey, Amie Barrodale, Ann Beattie, Robert Ferrigno, Seth Fried, Kenneth Funsten, Barry Gifford, Amanda Maxwell, Sam McPheeters, Carlton Mellick III, Eileen Myles, Will Self, Wells Tower and Gus Visco. The issue brings together a broad mix of established and emerging writers, with stories ranging from darkly comic and surreal to strange, literary and deliberately offbeat.

Highlights include Barry Gifford’s contribution from The Imagination of the Heart, Carlton Mellick III’s surreal fiction, Eileen Myles’ short story “Tapestry,” and Will Self’s writing, alongside pieces by Wells Tower, Ann Beattie, Robert Ferrigno and others. A substantial snapshot of VICE’s literary side and its interest in fiction that sits comfortably outside the mainstream.
